Beverley Robson Artist: Painter

Originally from Essex, Beverley Robson now lives in the Midlands. After teaching for 31 years, she retired early to pursue her writing and painting. She has a BA Honours Degree in Art and English but her development as an artist evolved when she immersed herself in an MA in Fine Art at Manchester Metropolitan University. She enjoys travelling, inspired by nature and her surroundings. She also enjoys local walks including the Lake and Peak district. The textures and fluid shapes that seem to move in the sunlight or hide in shadows, are evident in her work. Experimenting with gesso, salt, sand and clay, or anything that adds to the sense of place, she paints expressively, adding vitality to her work. Her manipulation of acrylic inks, consciously guiding the marks on the canvas, develop her expressionistic style. Making use of negative space, she continues to explore and connect to tangible elements in her outdoor surroundings, making use of mediums for self-expression and innovation.
She is grateful to local artists Barbara Nicholls and Mike Waldon who have encouraged her on her painting journey.
