Recently I have focused on texture as my immediate interest, reducing the palette and not enforcing my ideas, but rather letting them evolve naturally as I create with the paint and textures on the canvases surface.

I have been surprised by how much I am infuenced by Kiefer’s work after visiting an exhibition at The Royal Academy. I am finding my interest in texture exciting, continuing to sub-consciously depict the natural surroundings with man-made constructions; plants, leaves, bark, mixed with brick, plaster and drips of concrete mortar, all changing in response to the elements.

From my Sketch book...

This short video shows my latest landscape of a bridge I came across in Keele. I sat and sketched it, on a quiet bank in pencil and water colour, before starting this acrylic on canvas.

And from this sketch...
